Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 are now available to OEM partners for integrating it to their Operating Systems. On February 16th, the service pack 1 will be available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers and volume license customers.
If you are a single user, SP1 will be available to the general public on 22nd February, 2011. The new service pack includes all the updates previously available through Windows Update. The biggest feature included in Windows 7 SP1 is the availability of RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory client side support.
RemoteFX is an exciting technology that lets you virtualize the Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) on the server side and deliver next-generation rich media and 3D user experiences for VDI. Dynamic Memory lets you increase the virtual machine density with the current resources without sacrificing performance and scalability of the system.
We’ll provide you with the direct download links once it’s available from Microsoft MSDN or TechNet. So stay tuned and subscribe to our latest articles. Alternatively you may be interested in downloading Windows 7 SP1 RC or Windows 7 SP1 RTM. If you have already installed any previously released version of Service Pack 1, you can uninstall the service pack easily.
