Microsoft has partnered with Atari to re-release eight classic games from Atari. These have been all time favorites for the old time Atari users. The games include Asteriods, Combat, Centipede, Lunar Lander, Missile Command, Pong, Super Breakout and Yar’s Revenge.
Now all these games can be played on any HTML5 supported browser including Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 15 and Google Chrome 21. The project is supported by Microsoft and is actually aimed at promoting Internet Explorer. To make sure people play these games on Internet Explorer, Microsoft has done one clever thing. If you are using any other browser other than Internet Explorer, these games will come with ads which will distract the gaming experience. If you want to play these games, you’ll need to use Internet Explorer.
Here’s a quick video of the Atari games section:
These Atari games can also be played in a multi-user environment. Now you can easily challenge your friends in these classic games. Microsoft plans to release more than 100 games from Atari which will be touch friendly and will be available for playing in Internet Explorer.

What do you think of these classic games? Will you be playing them again .. and now in a browser instead of the gaming console?
