Microsoft Removes Google Toolbar From Skype 5.6

Microsoft has recently acquired Skype and soon after that a new version of Skype has been released. The latest version of Skype if 5.6. The interesting thing about this update is that Google Toolbar has been removed from the Skype bundle.

This step was expected as Microsoft has its own Bing Toolbar and would definitely like to promote it with Skype. Right now with Skype 5.6 there is no bundled product and only Skype will be installed when you upgrade. Another interesting thing that I have noted is that the official Skype blog uses Feedburner for its RSS feed which is a Google service. Let’s see when their feed service gets updated.

There have been two major fixes in this release of Skype. The first fix, a memory leak was fixed in Skype Firefox plugin. The second fix, crashes in Windows 8 startup was fixed.
