Windows Photo Viewer is a very good photo viewer from Microsoft which is installed in Windows 7 by default. Windows Photo Viewer has a very simplistic design and user interface with very clear and concise options. On the upper menu strip you will find like opening a file, printing the photo, email and burn etc. On the lower menu strip you will find different things that you can do with the photos. You can zoom in or out, start a slide show, cycle through images in the same folder, rotate photo etc.
While these are the perfect options for a general photo viewer, a pro user will always want to have more options at his or her disposal with the same simplicity and clarity in design.
I have used many photo editors and viewers but haven’t really been able to find a good alternative to Windows Photo Viewer. But now I have found ImageGlass which can be termed as a very good Windows Photo Viewer alternative. It has the same simplistic approach as Windows Photo Viewer but provides some more options essential for everyday usage.
ImageGlass comes with only one menu on the top of the window with all the options inside the same menu. It includes all the options of Windows Photo Viewer plus some more options like scale image to width or height, window adapt to image and show image as thumbnails. This way you can easily have a good look at all the images in the folder without cycling through each one of them one by one.
One feature that I like the most is the image conversion feature. You can easily convert any image to any other format by using Ctrl-S keyboard shortcut. The supported formats include BMP, EMF, EXIF, GIF, ICO, JPG, PNG, TIFF and WMF.
