Microsoft has released IE9 Blocker Toolkit to prevent automatic update to Internet Explorer 9 RC through Windows Update.
The news of IE9 RC update has just been released that IE9 RC will automatically be updated to IE9 Final through Windows Update if you have Automatic Windows Updates enabled. If you are an administrator of an organization then most probably you’ll not want to do this without your permission. So Microsoft has also released the IE9 Blocker Toolkit which will block IE9 from being updated automatically.
Here’s what Microsoft says about this toolkit:
To help our customers become more secure and up-to-date, Microsoft will distribute Internet Explorer 7 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 soon after the final version of the browser is released (planned for fourth quarter 2006). Microsoft is making a non-expiring Blocker Toolkit available for those organizations that would like to block automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 7 to machines in environments where Automatic Updates is enabled.
