How To Delete/Uninstall A Theme In Windows 7

We have been reviewing the best Windows 7 themes since the beginning of Technize.NET. We keep on installing new themes that look interesting and ultimately get full with installed themes. There should be a way to uninstall or delete a theme from Windows 7 so that we can keep our computer clean.

If you want to delete or uninstall a Windows 7 theme, there are a few simple steps that you have to follow:

  1. Go to Control Panel –> Appearance and Personalization –> Change the theme. You can also right click Desktop and select Personalize to get the same window. All the themes that you have installed will be shown in this window.
    Change Windows theme
  2. Right click the theme that you want to uninstall and select Delete theme
    Delete Windows 7 theme
  3. This will delete the theme files from the computer. The Windows 7 themes are usually stored in the following folder:
    C:\\Users\\username\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Themes
Replace username with your Windows username by which you have logged on.

Please note that you will not be able to delete a theme that is active. You will need to activate another theme in order to delete an already active theme.

You will not be able to delete Windows 7 default themes which are pre-installed in Windows.
