Wireless Routers or Wireless Access Points have to be used in places where we want to share Internet connection with multiple users wirelessly. But if you don’t have a wireless access point but have a wireless enabled computer or laptop with Windows 7 installed, you can easily turn your computer into a Wifi Hotspot so that others can use the same Internet connection coming to your computer using their wireless connection instead of the wired connections.
This is especially useful when you have a wired connection that you can connect to your computer and additionally you have a Wifi enabled smartphone which cannot be connected wirelessly. You can use the following two utilities to turn your Windows 7 into a Wifi Hotspot and then connect your smartphone to the Internet.
Connectify is the first utility which could turn Windows 7 into a Wifi Hotspot. With Connectify, you can turn a computer with Windows 7 into a wireless router. There is no limit to how many users can connect to the hotspot. The only limitation to Connectify is that although it is free but it is ad supported. Connectify has to be installed on the computer in order to be used. It is not portable.
MHotSpot is rather a new software which is portable and can turn your computer into a Wifi Hotspot so that the Internet connection running on the computer can be shared by other wireless devices like smartphones and laptops.
